EUBOIA. Chalkis. Circa 290-273/1 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.69 g, 2 h). Head of the nymph Chalkis to right, her hair in a roll, wearing triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. X-AΛ Eagle flying right with open wings, grasping serpent with his talons that coils around his body; in field to right, kerykeion with crescent at the end of the handle; all within shallow circular incuse. BCD Euboia 180 (this coin). HGC 4, 1464. Picard Emission 30 and pl. XV (bottom row far right). A very rare variety. Beautifully toned and of excellent style. A few tiny marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
